Berkshire Bunnies is an ARBA registered rabbitry, located in the beautiful Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts, USA.
We are members of the ARBA and the HLRSC.
We raise purebred rabbits for pets & therapy animals. Our rabbits are viewed as a part of our family, receiving individual attention and gentle handling.
They are healthy, absolutely beautiful, and have the best temperaments! Rabbits in our small herd are carefully selected for a calm, friendly personality.
Breeds we raise: Holland Lops and Mini Rex. Both are dwarf, averaging 2.5 - 4 pounds.
We specialize in unusual colors, with the focus being on magpie, frosty, chinchilla, harlequin, and vienna marked*(vm/vc/ve which also produces blue eyes). Both breeds are bred to the SOP(Standard of Perfection).
*We have separate vienna mark and non-vienna lines with our Holland Lops. We primarily focus on non-chocolate/shaded vm, because we love the bright blue eyes.
Our bunnies are raised with much love and care. They are hand raised, which means that we start handling them from day one, and we continue this daily until they leave for their new homes. (Note: throughout their infancy, they remain with their mother who feeds and nurtures them)
Early socialization is so very important. This basis is essential for their future as a well adjusted family pet and companion.
They are started on litter box training so they will become excellent house rabbits. Babies also spend time around our family dog.
The goal for every bunny we raise, is to be loved and cherished by their family, and in an indoor home ideally.
All our rabbits are fed high quality food and locally sourced hay. Our rabbits are kept in properly sized, clean enclosures, protected inside a building that is partially open(weather permitting), mechanically ventilated, and safe from biting insects. And thanks to natural geothermal effects, the space is always warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and perfectly sheltered from our harsh winters and any neighborhood predators.
They are given enrichment toys, and allowed to exercise in a large pen regularly (both inside & outdoors).
In the cold months, some of our mama rabbits & babies live in our home, so that we can pamper them and cuddle those cute babies anytime!
House rabbits make wonderful family pets!
We are happy to share our love of these endearing creatures with you all. We pride ourselves on raising quality companions with the best temperaments.
If you are looking for a beautiful, healthy rabbit which has been handled/socialized since birth, you have come to the right place.
Due to health & safety(covid-19 risk), and for insurance reasons, we are a closed rabbitry. That means that we are not open to the public. However, we gladly will meet off-premises for viewing and pick-up/delivery. Thank you for your understanding!
Available rabbits can be reserved with a non-refundable deposit of $25- $50. We are now going to FCFS(first come, first serve). However, we always try to select the best home & fit for each and every rabbit.
We reserve the right to refuse sale at any point prior to pickup. If we decide to do this after a deposit is received, we will of course refund the deposit.
No rabbits will leave prior to eight weeks of age. Any rabbits needing to go on transport should be closer to 12 weeks of age ideally.
A boarding fee will be charged if rabbits are not picked up within two weeks of ready date.
We do work with several transport companies in case you live far away and would like a bunny from us. Transport stops must be an hour or less from our location. An additional fee may be charged for driving to the stop.
As well as a couple private individuals, we also work with these transports:
Barbara's Bunny Hop
Stoney Mountain rabbitry and transport
Glory Be Transport
Hippity Hop Express
We only sell healthy bunnies, and have a 7 day health guarantee.
However, we are not responsible if an accident occurs while the rabbit is not in our care, or if proper care and feeding instructions are not followed in the new home.
* Also, the 7 day health guarantee is not given if rabbits are going on transport. This is because there are too many factors which are out of our control in this case (possible exposure to sick rabbits on transport, shipping stress, etc).
Each bunny goes home with a baggy of transition food, a personalized birth certificate, and a copy of our Bunny Care Guide.
Pedigree paperwork will only be given if needed to an *approved breeder*, and if deemed appropriate for the individual rabbit.
An additional fee applies to pedigree paperwork being issued.
We always recommend neutering and spaying for our bunnies going to pet homes.
